The Dexter Lake Club Band is New York City’s most in-demand cover band. We provide music for weddings, corporate events, parties, concerts, and more worldwide. The New York Times called us, “New York’s premier wedding band,” and NPR dubbed us, “New York Wedding Rock Royalty.” The Dexter Lake Club Band specializes in delivering great music and a non-stop dance party, without resorting to overplayed wedding staples or the cheesy approach that has made most cover bands into a punchline. The New York Times wrote, “Weddings, of course, have been the secret sustainer of the music world since time immemorial. But for just as long, wedding bands have been a source of embarrassment for those forced to play in them. The Dexter Lake Club Band has neatly subverted this construction by the simple expediency of creating a band that actually rocks.”

New York Magazine wrote, “The Dexter Lake Club Band: Because the music at your wedding does not have to be cheesy,” and NBC.com wrote, “Having performed with the likes of The Walkmen, graced indie rock temples such as the Bowery Ballroom and appeared on MTV, The Dexter Lake Club Band doesn’t fit the typical wedding profile.”

There really isn’t a typical Dexter Lake Club Band client. Our clients are looking for something unique. They want their wedding or event to be the best party they’ve ever thrown or attended. Our song list covers everything from classic rock to early soul, R&B, 80’s, 90’s, and modern music, with special attention paid to songs other than the usual overplayed wedding staples. We promise not to play “Y.M.C.A”, “Celebration”, or “I Will Survive.” We cover a ton of modern music and indie bands that most wedding bands can’t or won’t touch like Phoenix, Empire of the Sun, Arcade Fire, and MGMT, and we can seamlessly pivot to more modern pop, whether its Shawn Mendes and Katy Perry, or Walk the Moon and Portugal The Man.

Everyone’s musical taste is different, and an event like a wedding is multi-generational. That is why we work closely with our clients to craft a set list that is unique to their event and that all their guests, young and old, will enjoy. It helps that we have a song list that spans nearly every genre and contains hundreds of songs. So, whether you want to be very involved with the music or leave it to us, we’ll come up with a set list that reflects your individual tastes and style.
